Escape, respect, love, wonder, reflection – these are the feelings evoked by Christine Montague’s beautifully rendered, realistic oil paintings of people, places & portraits. An award-winning artist, with an academic background (Concordia University, Ontario College of Art and Design), Christine easily makes the transition from landscape & figurative painter to portrait artist. Her confident, contemporary brush stroke, and her ability to paint large canvases as easily as small, contribute to the successful, inspirational intrepretation of  both the  projects of her own vision and those of her clients.

Christine's figurative Canadian landscape paintings often include a solitary youth or child by the Lake Huron shore. Christine's "plein air" landscape paintings are created on location in  Mississauga & Halton Hills.

Christine accepts portrait oil painting commissions of all types  - informal, formal, corporate, military, academic and family portrait paintings.

An avid photographer, with two solo photography shows since 2008, Christine displays selected photographs from the series  "Journey to the Mill" (Williams Mill & Glen Williams area)) & "The Hidden Garden" (Chappell Estate, Riverwood Park)  alongside the paintings in her studio.  Her future photography series document the changes to place and service of  heritage buildings - as well as bring to light the hidden beauty of their presence and surroundings.

Christine’s paintings are in the collection of McGill University, Peel District School Board, and Youthdale. Her larger than life portrait of the late, jazz great, Dr. Oscar Peterson hangs by the entrance of the Mississauga’s Living Arts Centre Hammerson Hall.  Her original landscape and portrait paintings are in numerous private collections (Canada, England, Bermuda, USA) and her photographs are in many Ontario private collections.
