New artists at the Mill:
- Glen Williams artist Carmen Hickson has joined the community at the Mill, moving in to share studio space with Susan Wakefield on the Parkside level of the Stone building. Carmen works in unusual media, creating wall pieces out of recycled metal, pieces of kitchen equipment, strainers, spoons, and so on. You really have to see it to understand. Visit Carmen's Red Pig Studio, open Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 5 pm, others times by chance or appointment.
- The Mill welcomes back Glen Williams potter Carol-Ann Michaelson, who is setting up a gas kiln on the Parkside level with a studio in the Yellow Mill. Look for some exciting new ideas once Carol-Ann's new kiln gets firing. Carol-Ann is one of Canada's outstanding potters; she has taught internationally and her work is in collections around the world.
Joining Carol-Ann in the Parkside level of the Yellow Mill is Zsuzsa Monostory. Zsuzsa's work is decorative and sculptural, mostly Raku fired, focusing on the connection between human made surroundings and the humans themselves. Visit the pottery display area in the Parkside level of the Yellow Mill to see the work of all three of the Mill's outstanding potters, Carolyn Filter, Carol-Ann Michaelson, and Zsuzsa Monostory.
